FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology; otolaryngology; immunology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the treatment of recurrent herpetic keratitis. Patients with symptoms of inflammation in the anterior part of the eye undergo computed tomography of the paranasal sinuses (NS) and saliva testing for the presence of DNA of herpes simplex virus of types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus, Epstein-Barr virus, cytomegalovirus, human herpes virus of types 6 and 7. If at least one of the above viruses is detected and the thickness of the mucous membrane of any sinus is more than 2 mm, complex treatment of recurrent herpetic keratitis is carried out according to the following scheme: Acetylcysteine orally for 10 days, one powder daily 200 mg per day, Cefixime 400 mg once a day for 6 days or Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day for 10 days, Valacyclovir or Famciclovir in daily doses of 3 g per day and 1.5 per day, respectively, for 10 days, then starting from the 11th day of treatment, in doses of 2 g per day and 1 g per day, respectively, for 10 days. Oral therapy is supplemented with saline and antiseptic sprays into the nasal passages, and also gargling with antiseptic medicinal products 3–4 times a day for 30 days. Bromfenac sodium 0.09% is installed into the affected eye twice a day for 14 days, Okomistin antiseptic 6–8 times a day for 14 days, Midrimax 1 time at bedtime for 14 days.
EFFECT: method ensures the subsidence of the inflammatory process in the tissues of the eye, the disappearance of hyperemia of the bulbar conjunctiva, pericorneal injection of vessels, regression of opalescence of the moisture of the anterior chamber of the eye, regression of infiltrative phenomena in the corneal stroma, epithelization of erosive and ulcerative defects of the cornea, subsidence of pain and cessation of recurrence of keratitis due to complex treatment using local and systemic medicinal products.
