FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting systems. Result is achieved due to that adaptive lighting system (100) comprises a plurality of individually controlled light sources (111...119), sensor (102) and controller (104). Sensor determines relative orientation of user's head relative to mirror surface. Controller generates control signals (121...129) for individually controlled light sources based on sensor signal. Controller generates control signals to obtain lower light emission in the direction of the user's eyes if the sensor signal indicates that the head is turned to the left side, upwards, to the right side and/or downwards.
EFFECT: providing an adaptive lighting system for a mirror component configured to display a mirror image of a user on the mirror surface of the mirror component.
