FIELD: image processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technologies of reception and display of images. A method is proposed for operation of a system containing a monitor, a camera, and a processor in such a way that an image imitating a reflection in a mirror is displayed on the monitor. The method is implemented by performing in any order following stages: reception of a digital image from the camera, determination of a distance from a user to the camera, application to the digital image of a transformation algorithm to combine a camera observation point with a theoretical mirror observation point. Next, an image size is changed to weaken changes caused by changes in the distance from the object to the camera. Eye pixels are transformed or replaced so that to locate irises and pupils in the center of eyes looking forward. The image is displayed on the monitor after the image size is changed, and eye pixels are transformed or replaced.
EFFECT: provision of natural image orientation for an image displayed on a monitor.
