FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of extraction and concentration of scandium, and can be used in production of scandium from various types of scandium-containing materials, in particular, red muds of alumina production and wastes formed during processing of titanium-, zirconium-, tungsten-, nickel-, niobium- and tantalum containing raw materials. Method comprises repulping scandium-containing cake with a solution of a mixture of carbonate and sodium bicarbonate, carbonisation leaching of scandium-containing material with a soda-bicarbonate solution in a single step, filtration of leached scandium-containing material, extraction of scandium concentrate. Carbonation leaching of scandium-containing material is carried out with a solution of a mixture of carbonate and sodium bicarbonate with concentration of 130–350 g/dm3 Na2CO3 and 2–100 g/dm3 NaHCO3 at pulp pH of 9.5–11.0 and temperature of 20–90 °C. Required pH value of the pulp is maintained by gasification of the pulp with a gas-air mixture containing CO2. Extraction of scandium concentrate from leachate is carried out in one stage by means of its treatment with alkali solution.
EFFECT: method increases degree of extraction of scandium, simplifies instrument-technological scheme and eliminates use of sorbents and extraction agents.
