FIELD: information-measuring systems.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to information and measurement systems and can be used in computer vision systems designed to solve the problem of measuring range to an object based on its only digital video image. Disclosed method of indirect measurement of distance from diesel locomotive shunter to car involves generation of digital video image by video camera, isolating the contour preparation and comparing the physical size of the a priori known object with its size in pixels, determined from the outline preparation of the video image. When locomotive locomotive is located on rectilinear section of track on video image, sector is selected, within limits of which vertical line competitor is formed; on the contour preparation using Haf or Radon conversion, N ≥ 2 straight lines. After analysis of parameters of said lines ρ and θ only two straight lines are left, which potentially correspond to images of tracks of track, on which the shunting diesel locomotive is located. For points of contour preparation belonging to said straight lines, morphological dilation is performed and pixel coordinates of points corresponding to points of contact of rails with car wheel pair are determined. Problem of Perspective-2-Point is solved, where the width of railway track Lcount stands out with the known linear dimension, and correction is made for the distances between the extreme point of automatic coupler of the diesel locomotive and the optical center of the chamber.

EFFECT: technical result is evaluation of distance to car by indirect method – by automatic measurement on image of width of railway track in place of its contact with wheel pair.
