FIELD: information-measuring systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to solve the problem of measuring the distance to the nearest train car along the route. The essence of the proposed method lies in the use of a triangulation laser rangefinder, consisting of a fan laser illumination device and a recording camera, and also forming a raster of N beams in a vertical plane. For reflections from laser beams with a signal-to-noise ratio above the threshold, spatial coordinates are estimated in the coordinate system of the laser triangulation rangefinder and converted into the coordinate system of the automatic coupling device. Next, the number of the beam is determined, the reflection from which has a height in the coordinate system of the automatic coupler above the threshold Hthres. The distance to this reflection in the coordinate system of the automatic coupler is taken as an estimate of the distance to the car Dcar.
EFFECT: estimating the distance to the car using a laser triangulation rangefinder.
