SUBSTANCE: invention relates to application of coating on steel sheets or steel strips. Disclosed is a method of applying a coating on a steel sheet or a steel strip, comprising applying a base layer of a coating based on aluminium by hot dipping and release of surface of main layer of coating from natural layer of aluminium oxide with deposition of transition metals or compounds of transition metals on released surface of main layer of coating with formation of upper layer, wherein the top layer is deposited as a flat layer having a distribution layer on an iron in range of 7 to 25 mg/m². Also disclosed is a method of making press-hardened parts from the above steel sheets or steel strips with aluminium-based coating.

EFFECT: technical result is providing steel sheets or coated steel strips, exclusively suitable for production of parts by tempering under a press and for their further processing, as well as reduced time of holding in furnace while ensuring good weldability during contact spot welding and corrosion resistance of part hardened in mould after varnishing.
