SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing methionine sulphoximine or its phosphoric acid salt, which are used as fodder additives in rations of farm animals and birds, as well as biologically active substance in pharmaceutical industry. Method of producing methionine sulphoximine or its phosphoric acid salt involves reaction of methionine sulphoxide with nitric acid with subsequent neutralization of reaction mixture, filtration from salts and evaporation of water and is characterized by adding methionine sulphoxide and sodium azide to mixture of 85 % orthophosphoric acid and phosphorus pentoxide or polyphosphoric acid, wherein the nitric acid is formed by reacting sodium azide with mixture of 85 % orthophosphoric acid and phosphorus pentoxide or polyphosphoric acid, neutralization of the reaction medium with calcium hydroxide or carbonate is carried out to pH 8–11 and methionine sulphoximine is obtained or neutralization of the reaction mixture is carried out to pH 6–7 and a sulphoximine methionine phosphate salt is obtained.

EFFECT: disclosed is a novel effective method which enables to obtain methionine sulphoximine or its phosphate salt with high output, shorten the reaction time and material costs for extracting the desired product, as well as avoid formation of wastes.
