SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a composition for improving muscular metabolism. Composition for improving muscular metabolism comprises Rhaponticum root extract and Rhodiola root extract, wherein the Rhaponticum root extract and Rhodiola root extract is obtained by extraction with an ethanol-water mixture and the composition contains Rhodiola root extract in amount of 1 to 50 % of composition weight and Rhaponticum root extract in amount of 50–99 % of composition weight or the composition contains Rhodiola root extract in amount of 50 to 99 % of the composition weight and Rhaponticum root extract in amount of 1 to 50 % of the composition weight. Method for increasing level of protein synthesis in a subject, including orally administering to a subject a medicinal composition containing a composition. A method for reducing proteolysis of a protein in a subject involves oral administration of a medicinal composition containing the composition to a subject. A method of reducing sarcopenia in a subject involves oral administration of the composition. A method for inhibiting muscle mass reduction in an individual involves oral administration of a composition containing the composition to a subject. EFFECT: composition described above effectively improves muscular metabolism, shows a synergetic effect with respect to synthesis of protein, muscle mass and muscular force and reduces protein proteolysis.
