SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing an alcoholic extract of maral root Rhaponticum carthamoides. Method of producing alcoholic extract of maral root Rhaponticum carthamoides, including collection, grinding and drying of plants, extraction in aqueous solution of ethyl alcohol, drying of alcoholic extract, wherein to obtain an alcoholic extract having antiviral activity against coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and herpes simplex virus type 2 HSV-2 in vitro, aerial parts of the plant are used during the flowering period, extraction is carried out in 70% ethyl alcohol in a ratio of dry raw material/extracting agent by weight of 1/10 for 7 days at room temperature with rocking at rate of 100 rpm for 7 days, obtained extract is dried under aseptic conditions at 30±2 °C, then dissolved in dimethyl sulphoxide at rate of 200 mg/ml while rocking at rate of 100 rpm at room temperature for a day.
EFFECT: use of the claimed invention provides an alcoholic extract of said plant for effective suppression of replication of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and herpes simplex virus type 2 in vitro, wherein the output of the main biologically active compound 20-hydroxyecdysone from the weight of the dry alcohol extract is 1.32 and 1.30% of the leaves and stems, respectively.
