DIRECTED DELIVERY OF SPRAY-DRIED COMPOSITIONS INTO THE LUNGS Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61K9/72 A61K35/57 A61P11/00

Abstract RU 2731212 C2

FIELD: pharmaceuticals.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to inhalation compositions of dry powders. Pharmaceutical powdered composition, which does not contain carriers, for delivery into the lungs of the active pharmaceutical ingredient contains an active pharmaceutical ingredient, where the particles in the composition have a mass median aerodynamic diameter of 1.5 to 3.0 mcm and include one or more of a particle size distribution of at least 50 % of 0.8 to 2.5 mcm, bulk density from 0.03 to 0.4 g/cm3, roughness is greater than 1 and particles are obtained using a method comprising spray drying from a mixture of ethanol, having ratio of ethanol: solid substances from 1 to 20, and where the particles in the delivered dose have an inertia parameter of 120 to 400 mcm2 l/min, and where the total pulmonary dose measured on the ideal throat model constructed in the Albert University (AIT), at pressure drop of 4 kPa exceeds 80 % (wt/wt) of the delivered dose. Also disclosed is a method of treating a disease or pathological condition and a delivery system for delivering the active pharmaceutical ingredient into the lungs.

EFFECT: group of inventions enables particles to effectively avoid undesirable deposition in the oral cavity and throat.
