DRY POWDER DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND METHODS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61M15/00

Abstract RU 2650035 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment. Dry powder inhaler comprises a mouthpiece; a container comprising a dry powder, the container having a first vertical wall and a second vertical wall that are parallel and opposite to each other; a deflector or stem disposed in the inhaler such that, when the container is in the dispensing configuration, the deflector or stem is located between the first vertical wall and the second vertical wall. Two rigid air conduits lead to the mouthpiece. One of the conduits passes through the container, and the other bypasses the container. Deflector or stem faces the inner volume of the powder container to guide the flow of air entering the inner volume of the container in the dispensing configuration, from a direction parallel to the mouthpiece, along a U-shaped path that starts in a downward direction, transitioning to a direction parallel to the mouthpiece through the dry powder, and then proceeds to a direction perpendicular to the mouthpiece to exit the container, where the air conduit passing through the container is connected to the air conduit that bypasses the container. In the confinement configuration, the dry powder is hermetically sealed from the two air conduits and from the deflector or stem. Disclosed is a method for delivering a dry powder to a subject, which comprises administering to the subject an effective amount of an amorphous powdered medicament using a dry powder inhaler.

EFFECT: technical result is high efficiency of emptying the inhaler and delivering the powder with unchanged properties.
