FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of making a monolithic shaped element, in particular a dental restoration. Method of making a monolithic shaped element from lithium-silicate glass ceramics includes steps of: providing a workpiece from lithium-silicate glass-ceramics containing lithium disilicate as the main crystalline phase and having glass content of 30–65 % by volume; shaped element is produced by pressing and/or mechanical processing of the specified billet; softening the shaped element exclusively in the surface area by irradiating the shaped element with infrared radiation for a time t, wherein main components of infrared radiation lie in wavelength range of 2.7–4.7 mcm and time t is 30 seconds ≤ t ≤ 120 seconds.
EFFECT: use of the help enables to eliminate cracks and other surface defects by softening exclusively the surface area, without undesirable volumetric heating.
