FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of adjusting the tension of a metal strip between two tension points in a rolling mill, in particular between two adjacent rolling stands, wherein at least one of the tension points has a rotary motion drive. Method comprises determining actual tension between two tension points, determining mismatch as difference between actual tension and specified tension, input of mismatch in controller to generate output signal of regulator, conversion of controller output signal to control signal and adjusting the actual tension to the required tension by changing the rotation speed of the rotary motion drive as an actuating element in accordance with the control signal. Output signal of the regulator within its transformation into the control signal is changed at least from time to time depending on the value representing the speed of the metal strip.
EFFECT: efficient and fast adjustment of metal strip tension.
