FIELD: vehicles.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a vehicle comprising an auxiliary power plant for operating together with the main vehicle engine, and auxiliary power plant output power control method. Auxiliary power plant includes: auxiliary engine, main engine cooling liquid heating system, main engine lubricant heating system, control system, a direct current generator and a temperature sensor. Main engine coolant heating system, main engine lubrication system and DC generator are driven by auxiliary engine. Control system is configured to automatically start auxiliary engine. DC generator is configured to generate an output voltage. Temperature sensor is connected to the switch and is installed outside the vehicle containing the main engine. Switch is configured to block automatic shutdown of main engine if temperature sensed by said temperature sensor, below preset threshold value.

EFFECT: creation of the system facilitating start-up and, consequently, reducing the main engine wear of the locomotive at low ambient temperatures by means of an auxiliary power plant.
