FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to otorhinolaryngology, and aims at treating peripheral vestibulopathies. Postaural antromastoidotomy is performed. Using an X-ray laser with wavelength of 0.53 mcm with energy of 2 J and pulse duration of 5–10 ms through a distal end of a quartz-polymer light guide with diameter of 1,000 mcm is used. Laser radiation is exposed to the lateral bone wall of the semicircular canal on the visualized border of the ampoule and the canal, bringing the light guide close to the bone. Exposure is applied in packets of 3 pulses to reduce nystagmus III to I degree. Nystagmus is visually inspected.
EFFECT: method provides higher clinical effectiveness in peripheral vestibular pathologies, achieves considerable reduction or cessation of fits of lightness.
