FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electro-prospecting geophysical studies aimed at studying electrical properties of rocks, including their azimuthal inhomogeneity. Three feeding electrodes are located at corners of equilateral triangle. Phase of sinusoidal three-phase current is supplied to each of electrodes and virtual rotation of resultant density vector of density current with frequency of supplied supply current is performed. Three measuring electrodes are located at angles of equilateral triangle, smaller in size. Canter of triangle, in corners of which there are measuring electrodes, coincides with centre of triangle of supply electrodes. Instant voltages are measured between pairs of electrodes. Instantaneous value of the angle of the electric field intensity vector and its modulus are calculated at preset time instants of the oscillation period. Construction of ellipsoid of azimuth dependence of specific electric resistance is performed. Difference of angular position of electric field intensity vector is calculated at each selected moment of time at rotation of field vector clockwise and counterclockwise.

EFFECT: polarisability of the real medium with azimuthal polarisability distribution is calculated from this difference.
