SUBSTANCE: invention relates to versions of a coating composition which can be used in various industries for imparting decorative and/or protective finishing, as well as to a substrate which contains said composition. Composition comprises a film-forming resin, a cross-linking agent which reacts with a film-forming resin, and a compound, having a hydroxy-functional alkyl polyurea and/or a group of hydroxy-functional alkyl polyurea of the formula given below, in which R₂ contains a substituted or unsubstituted C₁-C₃₆-alkyl group, an aromatic group, an isocyanurate group, a biuret group, an allophanate group, a glycoluril group, a benzoguanamine group, a polyether amine group and/or a polymer group, different from polyether-amine group and having Mn equal to 500 or more; each R₁ is independently hydrogen, or alkyl, having at least 1 carbon atom, or hydroxy-functional alkyl, having 2 or more carbon atoms, and at least one R₁ is a hydroxy-functional alkyl having 2 or more carbon atoms; n is equal to 2–6. Polyurea is present in the composition in amount of 0.5–10 wt % relative to the total weight of the solid substances. Composition can contain wood particles and can be applied on any substrate as a primer, a base layer and/or an upper layer.

EFFECT: invention increases adhesion, moisture resistance, and film resistance to solvents.
