SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heterogeneous catalysis, particularly, to production of modern catalysts for hydroprocessing sulphur-containing raw materials based on heteropoly compounds of Allman-Waugh structure, deposited on aluminium oxide with bimodal pore distribution. This invention can be used in oil refining and petrochemical industries in order to obtain modern environmentally friendly motor fuels with ultra low content of sulphur, as well as at natural gas processing plants in order to purify natural gas from sulphur-containing compounds for further processing into ammonia, carbamide, nitric acid, complex mineral fertilizers, methanol and other valuable products. Invention relates to a hydrofining catalyst for sulphur-containing feedstock, wherein catalyst contains 4–5 wt. % of NiS; 14–16 wt. % of MoS₂, the rest is Al₂O₃; has specific surface area 130–145 m²/g; pore volume 0.30–0.45 cm³/g; average pore size is 9.95 nm. Invention also relates to a method of preparing a catalyst and methods of hydrotreating a sulphur-containing feedstock.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of efficiency of catalyst due to increased degree of dispersion and uniform distribution of particles of active component on surface of catalyst carrier.
