SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gardening. In the method, perennial herbaceous essential oil plants - peppermint, melissa, creeping thyme, garden sage and wild chamomile possessing sedative properties through aerophytotherapy are planted and cultivated in the vegetal layer on roof. Also, in proportionally equal combinations of roof gardening area, the following types of plants are planted: essential oil plants - stonecrops - mosses, essential oil plants - stonecrops - mosses - non-succulent dicotyledons plants, essential oil plants - stonecrops - non-succulent dicotyledons plants - cereals, essential oil plants - cereals - non-succulent dicotyledons plants, oil-bearing plants - stonecrops - mosses - herbaceous plants, essential oil plants - stonecrops - herbaceous plants, essential oil plants - perennial herbaceous plants, essential oil plants - wood plants, essential oil plants - wood plants - perennial herbaceous plants. Using bushes with height of up to 4 m, trees with height of up to 10 m, which are monitored by two Xiaomi Smart Flower Monitor devices communicating, through a substrate moisture sensor and corresponding Flower Care mobile application on necessity of watering plants, planted in multilayer structure of gardening of roof, which includes root protection, drainage and water-accumulating layer, system filter, inorganic substrate through which roots are sprouted. PH value for the drainage layer is identical to the value of the acidity of the substrate and is equal to 5.5–8.0.

EFFECT: method provides a sedative effect of a specially selected group of essential oil plants for aerophytotherapy in planting roofs and improves accuracy of supplying plants with water by using digital diagnostics of soil moisture on the designed landscaped roofs.
