SUBSTANCE: invention refers to defectology, particularly to methods for eliminating stutter. Method for automating a new speech skill in stutter correction in children and adults includes reading using rhythmic hand movements, at that, before reading, grammatical and rhythmic accents are placed, long vowels are selected, before each phrase is inhaled through mouth. In order to retain the tempo-rhythmic side of speech, observing the vowel fusion in the whole phrase, external control over tempo and rhythm is required; for this purpose, hand gestures in the form of "eight" are used during reading.
EFFECT: method allows to fix a new speech skill without a stammering, reduce time for automation of a new speech skill in stutter correction.
