FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing polycrystalline diamond material with a hole extending in an axial direction, which can serve as a workpiece for making a drawing tool. Method includes placing into reaction cell 1 of high-pressure chamber insert 4 from metal-catalyst and in contact with insert of rod 5 made of metal with melting point exceeding temperature of melting metal-catalyst and wetted by metal-catalyst. Reaction cell 1 is filled with carbon-containing material 7 forming shell with stepped hole, wherein part of hole, in which metal rod 5 is located, most distant from metal catalyst insert 4, is made in the form of a flare, the height of which is 0.3–0.5 of the height of rod 5, and the maximum diameter of flare is 1.2–1.5 of the diameter of rod 5.
EFFECT: making holes in carbon-containing material 7 with flared end allows increasing height of polycrystalline diamond material.
