SUBSTANCE: disclosed is method (10) for updating the number of retransmissions for a mesh network node in a mesh network comprising a plurality of nodes of a mesh network, said number of repeated transmissions indicating how often said mesh node repeatedly transmits received messages in said mesh network, wherein said method comprises steps of receiving (20) by said mesh network node of a certain number of information messages, each of said information messages originating from the same source node of the mesh network and addressed to the same end node of the mesh network in said mesh network, transmission (30) by said mesh network node of each of said number of information messages based on said number of retransmissions, receiving (40) by said mesh network node of a certain number of acknowledgment messages, each acknowledgment message is sent from said RD node of mesh network and acknowledges receipt of specific information message from said number of information messages, and update (50) by said mesh network node of said number of retransmissions based on said number of information messages and based on said number of acknowledgment messages.

EFFECT: high reliability of the mesh network and reduced average overload.
