SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rescue operations and concerns lifting of sunken objects and maintenance of sinking objects afloat by restoration of their buoyancy. Disclosed is a method of restoring buoyancy of a sunken or sinking vessel by extruding water from flooded cavities of a vessel through holes with introduction into the cavity of the vessel of flexible gas-impermeable shells with a gaseous mixture injected therein, squeezing water from the cavities of the ship, wherein flexible elastic gas-impermeable shells made in the form of small gas reservoirs with individual gas fillers, which are small in size relative to the volume of the vessel cavities, which are actuated by water, and in folded form with negative buoyancy, laid in fold into folding cases, by means of guide pipelines through holes are supplied to cavities of ship, filled with water, wherein gas fillers are actuated by water and gas mixture is injected into gas-tight shells of gas containers, enlarging them in volume, which fill space of vessel cavities, deforming each other and filling displacing water, and impart positive buoyancy to the vessel.

EFFECT: technical result is to simplify the method of restoring buoyancy of a sunken or sinking vessel, high reliability and faster rescue operations.
