FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, particularly, to production of rod at helical rolling mill. Proposed method comprises deformation of billet in deformation zone formed by two pairs of drive rollers, one of which performs shaping by cup-like pattern. Result is provided due to that in the second pair of rolls shaping is carried out on a barrel-shaped scheme, at that, deformation is carried out at angles of supply of both pairs of rolls 23-30° in asymmetric deformation center, wherein angle between planes passing through centers of both pairs of rolls is set different from 90°. Feed angle 23-30° provides for homogeneous fine-grained structure production due to more uniform deformation.
EFFECT: possibility of minimizing gaps between rolls at the outlet of the deformation source and preventing metal broadening, as well as providing favorable kinematic rolling conditions, that predetermines more accurate geometrical sizes of rolled stock, and prevents formation of surface defects due to appearing on the workpiece surface compressive stresses.
