FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthesis of zeolite SSZ-39 using a modified composition of an organic structure-directing agent (OSDA), in which part of the OSDA is replaced with one or more other organic bases, which by themselves are not OSDA for SSZ-39. SSZ-39 zeolite is a promising catalyst for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides in exhaust pipes of internal combustion engines operating on diesel fuel. Method of producing zeolite SSZ-39 comprises forming an aqueous reaction mixture containing at least one silicon oxide; foyazite; at least one organic structure-directing agent (OSDA) for making zeolite SSZ-39, wherein at least one OSDA for making zeolite SSZ-39 is one substance or a mixture of two or more substances selected from PIPPY (PIPPY = N, N-dimethyl-3,5-dimethylpiperidinium hydroxide), cis-PIPPY, trans-PIPPY, one or more 2,6-dimethyl-N, N-dialkylpiperidinium, where the alkyl groups can be identical or different and contain 1–4 carbon atoms, and tetraethylphosphonium hydroxide; at least one pore aggregate (PFA), which is not OSDA for making zeolite SSZ-39, wherein at least one PFA contains one substance or mixture of two or more substances selected from organic bases; alkali metal hydroxide or salt and water; and hydrothermal treatment of reaction mixture under conditions of crystallisation, sufficient for formation of crystals of zeolite SSZ-39. Invention provides for lower cost of product due to use of less expensive components. Replacement of part of OSDA with PFA can produce more economical result.
EFFECT: obtained zeolites SSZ-39 are high-purity and have a silicon-to-aluminium ratio (SAR) in range of 7 to 12.
