FIELD: fire-fighting equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to coke extinguishing in dry coke quenching plants (DCQP). Method of operation of a dry coke quenching plant (DCQP) consists in loading of incandescent coke into an antechamber, in which thermal curing of said coke takes place with its subsequent supply to a quenching extinguishing chamber, wherein said coke transfers its heat to circulating gases which are removed from quenching chamber through slanting passages for cooling in waste heat boiler with subsequent supply by means of blow fan to said extinguishing chamber, at that, extinguished coke is unloaded from the quenching chamber, during the DCQP operation determining the value of criterion d, determining the design and operation mode of the quenching chamber of the DCQP, and maintaining it at a level not exceeding 1.1, wherein circulating gases are cooled with their subsequent supply to the quenching chamber, wherein criterion d, determining the design and operation mode of the DCQP quenching chamber, is determined by product of reduced coke rate (Wc, m/h) in said quenching chamber and reduced speed of circulating gases (Wg, m/s) in coke-blanked extinguishing chamber.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is development of criterion d of the quenching chamber of the DCQP to determine and maintain the specified value of dustiness (M) of circulating gases behind the quenching chamber and to determine the diameter of the quenching chamber depending on the rated efficiency of the DCQP on the detonated coke.
