FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: use for analysis and analysis of materials using ultrasonic vibrations. Essence of invention lies in the fact that with the tunneling acoustic microscope comprises a transmitting acoustic element, comprising an acoustic line, an acoustic lens, in the area of focusing of which there is a meso-sized particle with a characteristic size of not more than the transverse dimension of the focusing region and not less than λ/2, where λ is the wavelength of the radiation used in the medium, with the speed of sound in the particle material relative to the sound velocity in the environment in the range of about 0.5 to 0.83, receiving acoustic element, liquid cell installed between transmitting and receiving elements, as well as scanning system of analyzed object and restoration of its image on video monitoring device, wherein directly on side surface of particle, perpendicular to incident radiation, acoustic screen is installed with value of acoustic impedance differing from impedance of meso-sized particle and at distance from illuminated end face of particle in range from 0 to L, where L is the length of the particle along the direction of incident radiation, and the thickness of the acoustic shield is less than the thickness of the meso-sized particle in the direction of radiation drop.
EFFECT: high quality of the obtained image of the analyzed object owing to increasing the signal-to-background ratio of the acoustic shaping system.
