FIELD: dielectric lenses.
SUBSTANCE: method for focusing electromagnetic radiation, in which a plane electromagnetic wave is formed using a source of monochromatic coherent electromagnetic radiation, which illuminates a spherical homogeneous mesoscale lens made of a material with a relative refractive index relative to the refractive index of the environment, which is in the range equal to 1.9≤n< 2, and a relative diameter equal to D/λ <30, by changing the frequency of the incident electromagnetic wave or by choosing the diameter size of the mesoscale lens, high-order superresonance Mi modes are excited in the mesoscale lens, whereas the electromagnetic radiation forms a focal spot with a subwavelength size and a high value of the electromagnetic field intensity.
EFFECT: providing high spatial resolution and high intensity of the electromagnetic field in the focal area of the spherical uniform mesoscale lens.
