FIELD: wave focusing devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for focusing elastic waves into a region with transverse dimensions less than the diffraction limit and can be used for research, instrumentation and diagnostic work in implementation of technological processes and the study of biological objects. A mesoscale cuboid plate lens consists of an array of parallel plates set at an angle of +α to the incident radiation above the optical axis of the lens and at an angle -α below the optical axis of the lens, the width of the plates is equal to the length of the cuboid face, and made of a material with an impedance value different from the environment impedance. The angle of inclination of the plates decreases across the optical axis of the lens towards its periphery, creating a smooth gradient in the effective refractive index, which is in the range from less than 2 to 1.2.
EFFECT: enabling subwavelength focusing and optimization of lens characteristics.
