FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrometallurgy of rare metals, and specifically to technology of processing bismuth-containing materials to obtain bismuth compounds. Basic bismuth nitrate is treated with ammonium carbonate solution in molar ratio of ammonium carbonate to bismuth equal to 0.55-1.0, with subsequent conversion of the obtained bismuth oxocarbonate to oxofumarate as a result of its treatment with a solution of fumaric acid with a molar ratio of fumaric acid to bismuth equal to 0.6-1.0, and process temperature of 50-80 °C. Obtained bismuth oxofumarate is washed with water and dried at temperature of 90-110 °C.
EFFECT: reduced consumption of fumaric acid, obtaining a product with nitrate ion content less than 0_02 %.
