FIELD: acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: claimed invention relates to hydroacoustics, particularly to methods of measuring sound velocity. Method for determining sound velocity distribution comprises moving an autonomous unmanned underwater vehicle (AUUV) in an aqueous medium along a program path, periodically measuring sound velocity, calculating the AUUV coordinate during the movement and periodically transmitting to the control station of the accumulated AUUV information. At that, in order to determine sound velocity distribution along acoustic beam trajectory, AUUV program path is formed in sonar probing (SP) direction, with the help of SP, continuous hydrol tracking of the AUUV movement is performed, as per change of the echo signal from the AUUV, the trajectory is corrected, holding the AUUV within the SP viewing sector, wherein transmission of control data to control station, accumulation of control commands for correction of trajectory is carried out using hydroacoustic communication channel when AUUV is in submerged position.
EFFECT: technical result of invention implementation consists in operative determination of acoustic velocity distribution along acoustic beam path, including in conditions of arctic seas.
