FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst and a method for preparation thereof for hydrogenation conversion of glycerol to propanol. Disclosed is a catalyst which contains nickel nanoparticles on an oxide support, which is a mixture of tungsten oxide with titanium oxide or zirconium oxide, taken in molar ratio WO3:TiO2(ZrO2)=1:4–4.5, at following ratio of components, wt%: nickel 16–20 and oxide carrier – balance. Invention also relates to a method for hydrogenation conversion of glycerol to propanol using the disclosed catalyst.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is high selectivity of propanol formation to 72_6–94_2%, as well as simplification of the process by reducing hydrogen pressure to 20–36 atm and reducing temperature to 245–265 °C.
