SUBSTANCE: invention relates to tracking movements of a person or an object inside and outside of premises and can be used in such areas as virtual reality, medicine, eSports. In the method of tracking movements of a person or object based on radio inertial sensors, ultra-wideband radio beacons are placed along the perimeter of the zone, in which the person or object is tracked; ultra-wideband radio inertial receivers are fixed on the person or object of tracking; emitting a periodic pulse signal from stationary ultra-wideband radio beacons; recording time of arrival of pulses with ultra-wideband radio inertial receivers and estimating signal propagation time; determining coordinates of ultra-wideband radio inertial receivers based on the obtained estimates using an adaptive filter synthesized based on human or object motion patterns, reading the estimates at the output of ultra-wideband radio inertial receivers and transmitting the estimates to the input of the adaptive filter; performing adaptive filtering on the basis of models of human or object movements and transmitting data at the filter output on the position and orientation of the person or object in real time to a computer in machine-readable form. Tracking system of human or object movements based on radio inertial sensors comprises a plurality of channels, a plurality of ultra-wideband radio inertial receivers arranged on a person or object, a plurality of stationary ultra-wideband radio beacons located along the perimeter of the area, a processing unit for the obtained estimates, power supply sources for stationary ultra-wideband radio beacons, wherein in each channel there is a quasi-optimum filter, wherein each filter is synthesized according to one of the motion models.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of determining position of person or object in real time.
