SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to apparatus (1) for processing mat (10) of mineral fiber, a production line for making a product based on mineral fiber, method of mat processing and production method of mineral fiber-based product. Treatment involves movement of fiber along plane and in direction of movement (X) by detection and removal of localized defects (M), where apparatus comprises: first conveying element (2); second conveying element (3) located behind first conveying element (2), in direction of movement (X), and separated from it in said direction by treatment zone (4); device (5) for detection of localized defects (M) in mineral fiber mate (10) located upstream of processing zone, in direction of movement (X); and defect removal device (6) in treatment zone (4) on the production line suitable for removal, where the defect (M) detected by detection device (5) is removed by removing a part of the mat containing the defect.

EFFECT: inventions make it possible to remove defects at earlier stages of fabrication.
