METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING FIBROUS THERMAL INSULATING MAT Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC F16L59/02 B32B19/06

Abstract RU 2809425 C1

FIELD: construction materials.

SUBSTANCE: heat-insulating pierced mats made of basalt, silica, or glass fibres and intended for thermal insulation of the elements of transition units with a complex configuration of hot and cold water supply pipelines, as well as heat exchange equipment of a complex configuration. The method for producing a fibrous heat-insulating tufted mat involves applying textile coverings to the fibrous layer and stitching them with threads. The “loop” part of self-adhesive Velcro tape is first placed along the surface of the mat in the longitudinal, transverse directions and along the diagonals of the rectangles formed by the tape. The mat is stitched along the tapes with sewing threads, while the width of the Velcro tape is determined taking into account the thickness and width of the fibrous heat-insulating stitched mat based on the ratio: L=W/T+10, where: L is Velcro tape width (mm); T, W are, respectively, thickness and width of the stitching mat (mm). The stitching of the mat with threads together with the applied Velcro tape in the longitudinal direction is carried out at a distance of no less than three times and no more than five times the width of the Velcro tape, and in the transverse direction it is carried out at a distance of no less than five times and no more than ten times the width of the Velcro tape, depending on the width of the mat.

EFFECT: improved thermal insulation of the elements of a complex configuration of transition units of hot and cold water supply pipelines, namely corner and end transitions, fittings, gland expansion joints, and flange connections, as well as heat exchange equipment of a complex configuration, simplified installation process and ability to quickly access a damaged unit pipes due to quick dismantling by removing the Velcro tape “hooks”, ability to reuse the mat, possibility of gentle restoration without completely dismantling the old insulation, reduced labour intensity of processing with cutting tools (for fitting to the pipeline sections of a complex configuration: supports, branches, shut-off devices).
