SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of initiating a data connection between central server (300) and control unit (120) connected to elevator (100), the escalator or the travolator. Starting signal is received in control unit (120) from central server (300), wherein trigger signal is delivered by voice communication service or mobile communication network messaging service, with which control unit (120) is connected with possibility of communication. Determining whether the trigger signal corresponds to at least one predetermined requirement, by determining, whether the trigger signal has data corresponding to the comparison data, which are available to control unit (120). In response to the positive determination result, establishment of connection for IP data transmission from control unit (120) to central server (300) is initiated. Elevator control unit (120) is also proposed.
EFFECT: remote monitoring of the lift installation is achieved.
