FIELD: alkaline batteries.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a separator used in various alkaline batteries, such as alkali-manganese batteries, batteries with silver oxide, mercury batteries, air-zinc batteries, and alkaline battery using separator. According to the invention, the alkaline battery separator comprises a wet textile material containing at least alkali-resistant cellulose fibers and alkali-resistant synthetic fibers and bound by a binder component; note here that mean pore diameter of wet textile material ranges from 1 mcm to 10 mcm. Besides, in separator for alkaline batteries there used is wet textile material having maximum pore diameter from 20 to 60 mcm, coefficient of fluid retention from 400 % to 700 % during immersion in 40 % by weight solution of KOH and degree of swelling of 30 % to 45 % during immersion in 40 % by weight of solution of KOH.
EFFECT: technical result is improved reliability of internal short circuit prevention, availability of good fluid retention and screening properties.
