METHOD OF PREVENTION OF DECOMPRESSION SICKNESS Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61M16/00 G09B23/28

Abstract RU 2738015 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to diving medicine, and can be used for prevention of decompression sickness. Laboratory animal is placed in a pressure chamber and further air pressure is increased inside the pressure chamber. Excess pressure in the chamber is raised to 7.5–8.2 kg/cm2 by feeding compressed air at speed of 4.0–4.5 kgf/cm2 per minute, kept under this pressure animal 30 ± 2 minutes. Then, the gas medium of the pressure chamber is replaced for 10–20 seconds with a perfluorocarbon respiratory fluid which is free of metabolically indifferent gas, while maintaining excess pressure in the pressure chamber of 7.5–8.2 kgf/cm2. After that the animal was kept on a separate liquid breathing for 30–35 minutes, and more incessantly and quickly reduce the pressure in the chamber at rate of 10–16 kgf/cm2 per minute to the normal atmospheric pressure. Thereafter, the animal is removed from the respiratory fluid and switched to independent breathing with air at normal atmospheric pressure.

EFFECT: method enables preventing caisson (decompression) disease at excessively high decompression rates (emergency depressurization, "explosive" decompression, ejection from depth) and individual bioreflectivity of the intravascular gas formation without negative side effects from the use of the pharmacological preparations by removing the metabolically indifferent gases from the body by liquid breathing before beginning of medium pressure increase (under normal-baric conditions) or during stay under excessive pressure (in hyperbaric conditions).
