SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a hair straightener (HS) comprising a heating unit (HU) for heating hair with simultaneous application of pressure to hair, a temperature sensor (TS) for measuring temperature of heated hair to obtain a measured temperature value and pressure control unit (PAU) to control pressure applied by heating unit (HU) to hair depending on measured temperature. Heating unit (HU) may comprise a pair of heating plates (HP1, HP2), between which hair is clamped, and the pressure control unit (PAU) can be configured to vary the distance between the heating plates (HP1, HP2). Pressure control unit (PAU) may comprise pressure device (W, C) with motor drive to increase distance between heating plates (HP1, HP2), when measured temperature exceeds first threshold temperature. Hair straightener (HS) may contain a pair of hinged handles (A1, A2), each of which has corresponding one of heating plates (HP1, HP2). Pressure control unit (PAU) may comprise engine-driven puller (W, S) to reduce the distance between hinged handles (A1, A2), when measured temperature drops below second threshold temperature, resulting in reduced distance between heating plates (HP1, HP2).

EFFECT: disclosed is a hair straightener.
