FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a hair styling device comprising a first lever, a heating element and a contact plate, made with possibility of heating from heating element and having surface of contact with hair. Device includes at least one temperature sensor for sensing the temperature of the heating element. Controller determines whether the hair styling device is in the open or in the closed position and is connected to at least one temperature sensor. Controller is used to control the temperature of the heating element: when the hair styling device is in the closed position, providing power supply to the heating element when the measured temperature falls below the first threshold temperature, and when the hair styling device is in the open position, power supply to the heating element is provided at falling of the measured temperature below the second threshold temperature. Second threshold temperature is higher than the first threshold temperature.

EFFECT: device for controlling temperature of a hair styling device and a method of controlling a styling device are disclosed.
