FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic and medical chemistry and specifically to a method of producing compounds from the class of heterocyclic systems - 5-substituted-6-hydroxy-2,3-diphenyl pyrimidine-4(3H)-ones of general formula I, where R is CH3; C4H9 or C6H5. Method is realized by reacting N-phenylbenzole carboxymidamide with 2-substituted diethylpropanedioates in molar ratio of 1:1.1 in a dimethylformamide medium during catalysis with potassium hydrocarbonate, for which a suspension of N-phenylbenzene carboxyl imideamide and potassium bicarbonate in dimethyl formamide, while stirring, adding one of 2-substituted diethyl propane-di-anates selected from the group: diethyl-2-methylpropanedioate, diethyl-2-butylpropanedioate, diethyl-2-phenylpropanedioate. Reaction mass is heated and held at temperature of 175 °C prior to termination of ethanol distillation, target product is extracted from reaction mass by acid-base reprecipitation.

EFFECT: technical result is a low-toxicity method of producing 5-substituted-2,3-diphenyl-6-hydroxypyrimidine-4(3H)-ones, which can be used in medicine as potential antifungal agents.
