SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to treating hyperglycemia, particularly diabetes mellitus. Disclosed is use of a composition containing (R)-(+)-verapamil or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a blood glucose level reducing substance, for preparing a drug for treating diabetes mellitus, wherein the blood glucose lowering agent is metformin or acarbose. Group of inventions also relates to a method of treating diabetes mellitus in a subject, comprising administering to an individual an effective amount of (R)-(+)- verapamil or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a blood glucose lowering agent selected from a group comprising metformin and acarbose.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides lowering blood glucose level.
