SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the long-term treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in a subject in need thereof. The method of treatment includes administering to a subject a compound being a carbapenem in an effective amount. Here, long-term treatment of type 2 diabetes is the treatment of a symptom of type 2 diabetes for at least one week after administration of the compound.
EFFECT: invention provides long-acting treatment for type 2 diabetes with the treatment effect lasting for at least one week even after the medicinal product discontinuation, which improves the quality of life of patients and their adherence to treatment.
