FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for diagnosing the presence of defects of a solid-rolled wheel on the train stroke. Essence of invention consists in the fact that reception, registration, processing and storage of incoming signals from converters during movement of railway (freight) car along controlled section of track, wherein radiation and reception of ultrasonic pulses is carried out by means of converters on phased grids, having electromagnets for acoustic contact with surface of wheel rolling and providing perpendicularity of pulses propagation direction relative to spatial location of detected defects.
EFFECT: technical result is enabling possibility of detecting cracks in wheel discs, of different spatial arrangement, as well as be able to control them separately, for example, first, on the left side, and then on the right side of the trolley, which increases reliability and validity of detecting cracks.
