FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for gas control in various media, in production of materials and alloys, in metallurgy, in high-temperature combustion chambers, in production of control sensors. Method for determining gas concentration involves arranging in a gas medium a sensor with a sensitive element and measurement of its electrical characteristics when changing content of gas in it, made of material capable of capturing and accumulating gas, wherein through the sensitive element passing the alternating electric current of high frequency, forming a skin layer in the surface layer of the sensitive element within the gas penetration thickness, high-frequency electrical impedance of the sensitive element is measured and gas concentration is determined from the values of impedance parameters.

EFFECT: technical result in the disclosed method of determining gas concentration is higher sensitivity of measuring concentration of gas.
