FIELD: veterinary medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to veterinary science, particularly to a composition for feeding ruminant animals and a method of controlling cobalt release in a cicatrix with scar bacteria for conversion into vitamin B12. Method involves feeding ruminant animals with a mixed source of cobalt, specifically a source of rapid release of cobalt and a source of slow release of cobalt. Source of rapid release of cobalt is selected from a group consisting of soluble inorganic or organic sources of cobalt ions and complexes of soluble cobalt with monomer sugar. Source of slow release of cobalt is a polymer complex with side groups of carboxylic acids selected from alginic acid, cobalt alginate, pectin, polyacrylic acid and carboxymethyl cellulose. Source of rapid release of cobalt ranges from 25 to 75 wt. % of the common source of cobalt, and the rest part of the common source of cobalt is a source of slow release of cobalt.
EFFECT: using the group of inventions enables regulating the release rate of cobalt in the rumen for turning the scar into vitamin B12 by bacteria.
