FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for synthesis of 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol - a starting material for producing synthetic aromatic substances and vitamins A, E. Method involves reacting formaldehyde with isobutylene in the presence of a solvent at high temperature and pressure. Process is carried out using a reaction mixture which additionally contains trioxane in a weight ratio of formaldehyde: trioxane: isobutylene of 1:0.002-0.1:3-5, respectively.
EFFECT: disclosed method increases selectivity of the desired product.
