FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a carbon adsorbent, in which naphthalene is dissolved in a hydrocarbon solvent and soot and concentrated (98 wt. %) sulfuric acid are added, wherein the soot is taken in amount of 2 to 15 parts by weight per 100 volume parts of the solvent, naphthalene in amount of 0.5 to 2.0 parts by weight per 1 part by weight of soot, and concentrated sulfuric acid (98 wt. %) in amount of 0.1–0.4 volume parts per 1 weight part of naphthalene; then obtained mixture is heated with continuous intense stirring to 90–160 °C and held for 1–4 hours; then obtained mixture is cooled to produce solid product; after which solid product is separated from solution and dried; then from the obtained solid product ready granules are separated and are stabilized in inert gas medium at temperature of not more than 250 °C, then granules carbonate at temperature 600–1200 °C and cooled to ambient temperature.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing a carbon adsorbent.
