FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to adsorbent production. Method of producing porous carbon adsorbent comprises mixing black with bonder and solvent to produce plastic mix, mix beading, granule stabilisation and carbonisation and, finally, cooling. Note here that binder represents oil pitches, coal-tar pitches, oil sintering additives with softening temperature of 40-150°C and yield of volatiles of 20-80%, while solvent represents hydrocarbons with boiling temperature at atmospheric pressure of 36-180°C, or mixes thereof with upper boil-off temperature limit not exceeding 180°C. Note also that black is taken in amount of 40-95 wt % per its mix with binder, while solvent-to-binder weight ratio makes 1:1 to 10:1.
EFFECT: cheap porous carbon adsorbent with high specific surface and mechanical strength.
